Location Shoot Anyone? A fortnight in Boa Vista, Cape Verde

As we had a few weeks of on the Beautiful island of Boa Vista, we thought it would be rude not to do the odd shoot one the 15 mile deserted beach.

For those that haven't heard of these unspoilt islands then it's really worth looking into as they will not stay as they are forever. The tourists are coming and this mean the 15 mile beach without a single hotel or house will not stay like that forever.

We were lucky to join the crowd in the Riu Rouarag on the southern point of Boa Vista and you wouldn't have to leave it as you are totally looked after in every way. But being the adventurous type, we of course tried many trips to see the delights and try and capture the true beauty. 

We visited the Loggerhead Turtles laying grounds and watched is awe as we stood a meter away from one mother laying her 92 eggs and head back to the ocean. Unfortunately this was one time I was not allowed to take any pictures as any light at all could cause the turtle to race back to the sea before laying. Of course we can take pictures in almost darkness, but due to many people forgetting to turn off their flash it is better to just say no to everyone. So the numerous crabs walking our beach had to be the wildlife shots for the trip.

So back to my more familiar ground of portrait shooting I managed to get Marta to step in as the model as usual and think I caught some amazing pictures of the shear isolation. 

All in all a fantastic holiday experience and we would recommend this destination to one and all, especially if you're looking at getting a photographic location.

Birthday Party Shoot

This weekend we spent a few hours with a great group of girls and there parents. They all had fun I'm told, not that I could hear much with all the laughing.

The party was a present for the birthday girl who was centre of attention, but we managed to give everyone their 15 minutes of fame in front of the camera. By the end everyone seemed comfortable and relaxed.

After being coupled up in the studio we headed outside for a moody shoot in the fading light. 

This is a new package we are providing with a make up artist available if required at a little extra charge and also a hair stylist can finish off the pamper for the pamper feel. Of course you don't have to have a party for this.

Wonderful Wedding In Basingstoke

We had the pleasure of covering a wedding a few weeks ago and when we first met the wonderful couple they told us they where not photogenic. Thanks to our pre-shoot and a short chat, we were able to explain, everyone can have great pictures taken, you just have to follow a few rules.

Our main goal is always to take pictures that you will love and help you remember that special day that flies by in a flash. The weather was not great, but we still managed to get out and get some great shots in War Memorial Park as well as a local village hall.

Of course it's not all about the formal shots, we captured friends and family smiling, crying and showing all the emotions of the day. These are just as important as the happy couple as they will normally be too distracted to take everything  in.

Barn Shoot Themed Shoot

I was again very lucky to be able to use a wonderful location to help out a mature model expand her portfolio. Feather wanted to do a shoot that would tell a story. I hope we managed to tell a story in each image.

With a few changes of outfits and ideas flowing we manage to fill the afternoon searching for the perfect angles to show both Feather and the venue at it's best.

Family Home Shoot.

Last week we visited a great young family who where very excited to have us there. We got to work and they were very relaxed and smiley, which of course always makes the time that much more enjoyable for all concerned.

The boys took right to being in front of the camera like ducks to water

Even Mum and Dad, although claiming they were not photogenic, I think you'll agree they were incorrect, as I always tell people, if you don't look go in front of the camera, it's the photographers fault, not yours. Well that's my excuse whenever I get in front of the camera.

Mum Needs Pictures Too.

So we had the pleasure of meeting Katie last week and we got into the studio to take some nice shoots. Marta was again on make up duties and we made Katie feel relaxed. 

I may have added a slight gloss to this picture but that's the wonders of modern day photography, everything is possible. 

After a quick shoot indoors we headed outside for our main work. Down to the local skate park and we met some of the boys doing their awesome tricks.

Model Competition Shoot.

We were asked by Lizzy a new local model to do some simple shots for an upcoming competition.

As Marta started with the make up we sat and discussed with Lizzy what she wanted to get out of the shoot and after a cup of coffee we began with a simple natural look and we were really impressed with the professional attitude and display.

Then back into Marta's care for a change of look as an extreme beauty look was the next step. Again we  went into the studio to complete a stunning look, you may just notice the eyelashes are not 100% authentic. 

One final change into a business look, which was my personal favorite, as it meant we could get outside into the real world and through some awesome poses.
