Head Shots For Actors

Hey Guys,

So the New Year is almost upon us and lots of you are thinking of resolutions and new starts. I guess that could be why I've been doing a few head shots this week. For actors especially it's important to have an up to date head shot for castings and agencies. But of course Facebook and other social media sites are where your friends, family and potential business contacts are going to see you. So a professional picture may just set you apart from the rest.

So here are a couple of the images I captured recently for these reasons.

Well In between the bad storms and floods we have had a few great days to get out and shoot. I managed to arrange a shoot last week at Audley Wood, just outside Basingstoke and took this picture of a willing male subject.

He isn't a model but did a good job hiding the fact which of course is what I love to do. You really don't have to be experienced in front of the camera to have some great pictures taken.

Basingstoke Hockey Christmas Dinner

We had a fun Saturday night with Basingstoke Hockey Club when they held their Black Tie dinner event. There were just over 100 guests in the club house getting merry on the odd drink and rocking out with the band.

We had a few of the teams in front of the mobile studio to record the night before things got too messy.

All in all a fab night and if you've not been to the club house on a Saturday, it's worth popping down to 'Down Grange' to see some games.

Proteus Creation Space Exhibit

If you are looking for somewhere to visit for free in the Basingstoke area with a little bit of artistic intent, then why not pop down to Proteus Creation Space. It is situated in Fairfields and also doubles as our studio. They have a gallery that displays local artists which changes every couple of weeks or so.

They asked us to pop in and document an installation that was produces by 6 local women with mental health issues which was fascinating. Below you can see a couple of pictures we took, maybe I'll see you there soon.

Down Time

I do like it when I have a little down time, it gives me time to play with some of my images. I have always loved to do the retouching myself of my pictures, I'm guessing its my control issues. But I know I still have a long way to go before I could call myself an expert. There is just so much you can do now with basic pictures to really make them stand out and I'm in ore of some the people out there.

I hope you guys like the images and you might note if you can read the first picture it is all about the homeless in London. The model in question has raised money for this charity and even slept out to highlight their plight.

Well we spent an evening with a great bunch of friends and got some candid shots, but the posed pictures can still be fun. After these went up on Facebook they did manage to get a fair few likes which must say that their friends enjoyed the smiles. What do you guys think?

Granddad's Photo Shoot

Below you can see that Winter doesn't stop Granddad spending time with his wonderful Grandson. We spent an hour chasing the little guy around the park, but loved the moment when Pop picked him up and we saw that special bond.

This also shows that the coming of those cold days doesn't stop us getting out in the real world for some photo fun. We  don't always need a studio shoot to get some great pictures. It's amazing how many great shooting locations there are around the Hampshire and Berkshire area. We love trying out new locations so if you if know of a hidden and little used place of beauty please let us know.

Party Event

It's always fun as a Portrait Photographer to get out into the real world and get real emotions from your clients. We had traveled far from Basingstoke, in fact far from Hampshire and England. But the fun and excitement is plain to see on the faces of the guys enjoying a School Reunion in the beautiful city of Kosice.

If you've not been or even heard of the second largest city in the land locked country of Slovakia, you really should get your cheap flight now. We really do recommend it. The drink is very cheap and the people so friendly and tourism is only just beginning in this unspoiled Eastern European City.

Smart Family Shoot.

We had the great pleasure to meet a wonderful family for their very important family shoot this week.

They have all agreed to pose for their family portrait with the intention of having their portrait printed onto a canvas for the grandmothers big birthday. What a fab idea!

Shooting In Limited Space.

I had a spare few minutes the other day when a friend popped over. As my wife and other friend were busy getting ready I thought I'd get a few shots in possibly the smallest room in the world. Of course you would expect to get a few tight shots of a model, but I wanted to get full length shots.

You can see below a few tight crops of the images I took. I did manage to get the full length shots I wanted but then of course changed my mind and thought it'd look a bit more mysterious if I left you wondering who the lovely model was.

No answers on a post card though it'd ruin the suspense for others.
